How Many Bags of Concrete Are in a Yard? (40, 50, 60 and 80 lb)

A cubic yard of concrete is 27 cubic feet. Divide that by what one bag makes and you have the answer.

Bags per cubic yard

Bag Yield per bag Bags per cubic yard
40 lb 0.3 cu ft 90 bags
50 lb 0.375 cu ft 72 bags
60 lb 0.45 cu ft 60 bags
80 lb 0.6 cu ft 45 bags

Yields are from Quikrete’s Concrete Mix data sheet. Other brands print their yields on the bag; most are close.

When to stop buying bags

At 45 bags of 80 lb mix, a yard is about 3,600 lb of bags to load, carry and mix. Many people switch to a ready-mix truck or a rental trailer of mixed concrete at around a yard.

Use the concrete calculator to get your exact count.
