Siding is sold by the square: 100 sq ft of wall. The house is four rectangles plus the triangles at the gable ends.

How it works
Walls = perimeter x wall height. Each gable = width x gable height / 2. Take out windows and doors and add extra for cuts.
What else to order
Corners, J-channel around windows, starter strip and trim are counted in linear feet from your measurements, and the siding maker’s installation guide lists what each style needs.
