Sand calculator

Measure the area and depth. Add your supplier’s weight per yard to see tons.

Enter your numbers to see the result.

Sand goes under pavers, into sandboxes and around pipes. Most of it is sold by the yard or ton.

How it works

Cubic yards = area x depth (in) / 324. Tons = yards x your supplier’s weight per yard, which changes between dry and wet sand.

Paver bedding

ICPI calls for about 1 in of bedding sand under concrete pavers, screeded flat over a compacted base. The paver calculator works out base and sand together.
